I have worked as a psychotherapist / counsellor for nearly thirty years and have gained a wide experience working with both individuals and couples. Psychoanalytical work means looking at behaviours and emotions; as in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) helping the client piece together patterns in their lives and then understand how they can make the changes they need. Allowing the client autonomy to improve their life, wellbeing and happiness.
When making the commitment to start therapy it is important to feel that you are being heard and able to express your feelings safely. Understanding the emotions we feel is key in making sense of our motivations and the barriers we face to being happy. Improving confidence and self-esteem means difficult decisions can be faced up to.
The number and frequency of the sessions will be discussed and agreed at the first session. Fees are agreed with each client, a usual fee is £60 per fifty-minute session. All the information is held in strict confidence. Skype and phone sessions can be good alternative for some clients who are not able to travel for face-to-face sessions.
Over the years, my psychotherapy practice has given me the opportunity to work with a variety of issues such as depression, anxiety, couples counselling, eating disorders, addictions, stress and obsessive behaviours. I have had particular experience working with survivors of sexual abuse and their families.
